Enjoying my new Edge 540

After using my Garmin Edge 520 Plus for the past 7 years it finally died. I replaced it with a new Edge 540 ane, wow, what a difference. It is so much easier to use. With the auto pause as well as advance warnings for turns, I am enjoying my purchase so much. I am now in the process of learning about all the things I can do with it courtesy of the informative Garmin videos.
Upgraded from Edge 530 and many improvements, starting with the set up that allows the one-click transfer of all the sensors to the new bike. 540 has an even better display (great for viewing the maps) than earlier models and the auto-dimming is improved. The "Climb Pro" feature is amazing but can be distracting if you're doing a climb you know, but it's one click to turn it off. The 540 does a great job of presenting the vast array of cycling metrics available. Not so good: my device goes blank every 30 minutes or so, stopping all metrics. Garmin support has been pleasant to work with but no fix so far. So if your rides are less than 30 minutes this is a really good device.
I bought this to replace an old Edge 500 because I wanted to track three different bikes with one computer and it just wasn't working with the old 500. The data from the 540 is great. My only complaint is that the initial setup instructions do not come with the computer and the online instructions from either the copilot or google or Garmin do not seem totally complete. There seems to be disagreement on which buttons to use for setup and maybe a step is missing. Once the computer was setup with all three bikes and the sensors, switching between them is easy.
Honestly, out of all the equipment I have for biking. This is probably the most useless because it doesn’t work like it’s supposed to all the time. It needs to be reset and never connects to my phone. I don’t know why it can’t just work. It’s a pretty simple piece of equipment. I’ve lost so many rides due to the crappy design of this product
