Finally

Was waiting for this remaster for a long time. I'm happy they actually rescanned the original negative for true 4K instead of being lazy and just upscaling from the original 2K digital intermediate. Because of this the miniatures also get a 4K rescan meaning they hold up very well on a 4K display. The digital effects are still 2K however and look soft compared to the rest of the film but that was expected. The HDR also looks amazing and is worth picking these films up for on its own. Finally these films can be viewed at home in true 4K HDR like they deserve!

Digital code for 4k not available in Canada

Going to be returning this. The digital code can't be redeemed for 4k ultra hd in Canada. I can't think of a good reason why that would be the case. Very disappointing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My biggest p### off is the fact that there's a steelbook set, but it's not available for purchase in Canada. Other countries have the option, but us Canadians get left out in the cold. This happens too often for us, and it needs to stop. Why do we get the short end of the stick?!?!?!

Peter Jackson personally over saw the remaster for this motion picture film. These films will forever be engraved into into the heart and minds of its audience.

I cannot get the discs to play.

Two machines, one a 2019- model, top of the line, zone free BLU ray that 'will play anything', and my desktop computer, will not play any of the discs.
The computer player says 'the discs are corrupted'.
I was able to register for the Google Play streaming, which is better than nothing, but I could have paid a fraction of the price and just streamed it.
