I've had the case for about 2 weeks. It is a good case and it seems sturdy like my past Defender cases. The only thing I don't like is that there is no cover for the front anymore. I know you can buy something separate but I prefer it all in one. The price is the same as in the past when it did include the front cover.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Disappointing Update to the Defender Cases

I’ve used Otterbox cases religiously for many years. I even get their Defender series which has offered the most protection. Their new case for iPhone 12 and up proved extremely disappointing. The Defender case comes with a hard plastic shell covered by a rubber case. In the past, the plastic shell was thicker and therefore more durable. As you can see, the top part of the plastic shell broke in several places and even chipped and peeled away. The only thing holding the plastic shell together was the outer casing. This was the result of normal use. No drops.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it and they fixed it

I have an iPhone 11 Pro and I bought an OtterBox case just like this for it and I loved it. It was a great case it held up well in the back didn’t start peeling until about a year and a half of hard use. I just bought an iPhone 12 pro and I bought this case to put it in because I was guessing that I was getting the same case that I got for my 11 but I was mistaken. Apparently a rug and Chase is getting thinner and thinner which is not why you buy a rugged case. I want some screen protection in my case and with this case I do not get it. I don’t want a low profile phone I want something that I can hold in my hands are covered in grease not something that’s so thin that I feel like im going to drop it. I was just hoping for the amount of money they charge for this case that they wouldn’t make it cheaper and well that’s exactly what they did. I don’t want a streamline case. If I wanted a basic case I would’ve bought a basic case. I just do not understand why you have to go ruining such a great thing

Durability - good…BUT… MAJOR problem

Bought one for an iPhone 11 Pro - had constant issues with my phone sound cutting in and out. Tried everything on the phone to fix the issue. Kept thinking it was the Otterbox Case causing it so got a replacement Otterbox case. Still issues. Upgraded phone to iPhone 12 Pro - got Otterbox Defender Pro case. Again sound cuts in and out. If I take the case off no problem with the sound at all so it’s clearly not the phone but the Otterbox case. Other friends and family have the same phone with a different case and they don’t have to take the case off for clear calls. Disappointed because I’ve used Otterbox cases for 8 years but this is a MAJOR problem!

Good Protection, Poor Build Quality

The design of the case is great, and my phone is in immaculate condition despite one or two minor drops in this case. With nice bezels and a good screen protector, this really does protect a phone. The issue is, the inner plastic is extremely fragile, and has started to break after only a couple of minor drops (at max). I love otter box products, but it seems like they may have missed the quality of this one. The clips that hold the inner portion of the case together have also begun to break, causing the entire case to move around and feel extremely cheap.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Belt clip sucks

Was Great; Now Just Okay

I've bought the Defender for every iphone I've ever owned. After the first Defender, I didn't bother to even look around when buying / upgrading phones.
Long time advocate for OtterBox but I would probably not buy again. Similar to other posts, the new version for (e.g., for the iphone 12) is a disappointment if you had the prior versions.
The lack of built-in screen protection is suboptimal for a series who had a following of people that were happy to trade bulk for protection. The old versions made your phone indestructible; but this version offers considerably less.
I'm upgrading my phone in the next month and will shop around to see what's available elsewhere in the market. It isn't that the OtterBox is bad; it just isn't great anymore.
I suspect if the company reviews ratings on prior versions vs. newer versions, they will similarly see a trend in customer satisfaction.

Expensive, but a great case. Unfortunately, the case does not fit/work/well with non-OtterBox screen protectors forcing you to add to your investment by having to purchase their screen protector.
