The new recessed screen area is a great improvement. Screen protection without an added layer. I have always used Otterbox. Best protection around. Basic black gies with everything and makes it easy to tell my phone from my husband's.

A Very Good Choice for Protection All Around

I've used Otter Box cases on my phones since putting a case on a smartphone became a thing. This is my first time writing a review for one.
Overall, this case is great. It will protect your phone from damage by being dropped (or even inadvertently thrown, which I've done), and the extra height it adds over the screen and camera lenses+flashlight prevents them from being scratched.
There are only two things about this case that bother me. The first problem COULD decrease its level of protection, the second is a design choice that is not necessarily on Otter Box.
First: The rubber outer part of the case from the lowest camera lens all the way around to the LED flashlight loosens over time and exposes the hard plastic. It falls back into place 99% of the time, but I can imagine a scenario where the loose outer rubber case is quickly pulled from a pocket or bag, dropped, then it hits the hard plastic interior casing, delivering more shock to the device its protecting.
Second: The USB-C charging port doesn't fit a standard compact USB-C to USB-A adapter. This is a minor thing for the majority of people, and can be mitigated with a short USB-C extension. This isn't and Otter Box issue, here. It's just something I noticed.

I love Otterbox. I always have a Otterbox case on just about every phone I have ever owned. But I have noticed something different with how the holster functions. The little notch that clicks the phone into the holster is not in the dead center anymore.The way I wear it makes the phone sit in the wrong way for me. I have to put it in with the buttons up so that I can answer with my right hand. That was never an issue before. The phone is still secure and safe. But I'm used to that CLICK sound. I find myself checking my phone a lot to make sure the holster doesn't push the buttons. And I really wish that you guys offered more colors for the Defender series! I love black true enough, but I wanted to spice it up with a nice burgundy case. I ended up getting purple. Close, but no cigar!!! But I still love you guys and will continue to buy these awesome cases! Thank you very much for being nothing but awesome!!!

I have always bought and will continue to buy the Defender Pro Drop+ case for every smartphone I purchase because it is a quality product that protects my phone through all the challenges of working construction. My only complaint is the inevitable loss of the small flap that covers the charging port after substantial use. I think this element could be engineered better.

The holster does not hold the S22 secure enough, my phone has came out of the holster several times. I havent been pleased with this one.

Not very pleased at all

The little black plug over the charging port didn't last long at all before it fell off. Rubber also separates from the plastic anytime I use any of my buttons on the right side. Not very happy at all
