This sewing machine works well and does what it's supposed to do. My observations are mainly subjective. It is light-weight. That can be a plus and and negative. It's good because it's easier to carry. But it has a "chintzy" feel to it. Everything is plastic and it doesn't feel as "solid" as my former machine. Also, every machine makes noise when you sew, but the sounds this one makes is "rickety". Sorry, can't think of another word for it. It's not a solid sewing machine noise. It's higher pitched and sounds like it might fall apart at any minute. But, like I said, so far it does what it is supposed to do. I've made three quilts on it so far and other projects as well. The price was right and, overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Lightweight, affordable machine for travel

I wanted a lightweight machine I could carry to sew days and classes. This one weighs 10lbs and has a lot of the features of my large home machine. I miss the auto thread cutter.

Not user friendly

This machine would be great for an experienced user but not for beginners. It’s too hard to thread the needle.

Definitely need more practice, but lots of options

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recieved this product from Brother for free in exchange for my fair and honest review.
I have not used a sewing machine for quite sometime (high school home ec class), so thank god for youtube to help me learn how to set it up. The directions were hard to read for a beginner, so I would recommend looking at youtube for assistance. Once I got it set up, it was fairly easy to use. I'm excited to try out all the stitching on the machine. It has a Qr code that also helped with set up! This is one of the best ones you can get out there with the amount of different options. Would definitely recommend this one to a higher level of sewer than myself but all and all was a good product. It also came with an extra wide table that would be good for quilting or larger projects.

Learning curve

I am trying to figure out certain aspects of the machine. Tension of the bobbin thread vs the top thread is one of them. I cannot seem to get that correct?

I have only used my new Brother machine once, but it was a dream to use! It was a very smooth sewing experience. I'm anxious to use it more in the future.

This sewing machine does it all. It comes with various sewing feet based on the stitch you select. When you select the stitch style, the screen will indicate which feet is needed (such as J, M, N).
I did have to read the instructions for the first few times, but once you understand the LCD display the sewing machine does it all! My previous sewing machine did not come with button option. This is a high end machine. Good machine for at home use.
