Pretty and practical.

This is a darling sewing machine with its light cool green face and cheerful flowers around the stitch dial. After using expensive computerized machines with screens I got tired of the complexity and realized I just wanted a mechanical sewing machine with stitch choices printed on the front and a simple dial to select a stitch. I like adjusting the tension, width, and length myself the classic way with wheels on top. I can still thread a needle by hand but I must say the needle threader on the GQ3700 is easy to use and works every time, so I use it. The presser foot can lift nice and high for bulky fabrics and layers. I can do free motion quilting by placing the included darning plate over the feed dogs and using the included spring action quilting foot. I especially like the lightweight translucent plastic cover that comes with this model. It folds flat but holds it shape when open. It has a pocket made to carry the extension table that comes with the machine. Also a slot on top that matches up with the carrying handle built into the machine. I need an overcasting presser foot and a cording presser foot in addition to the feet that come with the machine so I'm ordering those from Amazon. I ordered the GQ3700 at Walmart's website and for no extra charge it was delivered to my door the next day by Fed Ex. I got my money's worth with this purchase which feels remarkable nowadays with prices as high as they are on so many essentials and non-essentials.

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really nice sewing and quilting machine. I love the design and the size of the machine, it looks very nice. It was very simple to set-up and didn't take much time at all. I love the wide table, it makes things so much easier to have that work space. Such a great addition. The manual and included materials were very helpful in getting acquainted with the machine and answering questions. So far, it has worked flawlessly for the small sewing projects that I have done. I haven't had any issues. I look forward to starting some bigger projects and continue using the GQ3700. I would recommend this to others.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter has been asking for a sewing and quilting machine for over a year and when we got the opportunity to try out this Brother GQ3700 37-Stitch Mechanical Sewing & Quilting Machine with Wide Table I jumped at the chance. This machine is lightweight, yet sturdy and well made. It is very easy to thread and set up. It took no time at all to get the hang of the foot pedal and how to vary the speed properly. This model has 37 built-in stitches for both general sewing and decorative stitches - basically anything you would need for at home projects and alterations. Having this machine inspired my wife to join a local beginners quilting club. We are very happy with this versatile machine.
