I bought this in November First thing the machine box was open from one side. And when I operated it, It feels like it is making some weird sound, there should be one sound of machine but I hear two sounds Don’t know where it is coming from.
I have been using a 1961 Singer 503a for the past 15 years, so my opinion may be a bit biased. My brother and his wife have been wanting to gift me a new sewing machine for years, so I finally gave in and chose the 4432 in black. It was supposed to be simple to use, but I find myself referring to the owner's manual most of the time. Transitioning from a heavy metal machine to a lightweight one has been quite a challenge for me. I am not a fan of the plastic foot pedal (foot speed control). I have fears of braking some of these "Heavy Duty" pieces. I am still struggling to find the "Extra High Presser Foot" and have difficulty removing the bobbin cover without working around the pressure foot. I have been threading the needle myself and wind bobbins on a bobbin winder probable due to lack of patience. I find that it sews slowly, I am not a fan of the location of the reverse lever, and I do not like using the horizontal spool pin.
This machine works really well. I am still pretty new to sewing and think it was pretty easy to set up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I chose to buy a Singer because my mother's Singer lasted my entire childhood, and my 1st Singer has lasted 20+ years (my daughter uses it now, thank goodness, or I'd have had nothing to finish my son's bathrobe on!) This Heavy Duty machine I bought 2 years ago was great for everything from tulle and satin to fleece and canvas, until it wasn't. All of a sudden in the middle of the bathrobe the piece that you thread the bobbin through just broke apart from the rest of the bobbin housing. Can that even be fixed?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
