[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not going to lie, I’m pretty surprised. Skullcandy’s were known for being the cheaper alternative for earphones, so when I found out that they made gaming headsets I had low expectations. Well, I was surprised.
I tried out all the functions of the Slyr Pros: I tried listening to music, watching videos, talking online with some friends on Discord, spoke in game, and of course, had to play games while using it.
The quality of the headphones themselves feel standard to typical gaming headsets (which is good), they’re quite comfortable wearing all night when I was gaming, the sound is surprisingly good and I wouldn’t mind using them, but I would say the mic quality is pretty bad. If you plan on streaming or recording audio with it, it’s a no go. The volume is low even though you max it at 100% and it doesn’t sound as clear as it could be. If you want to just use it for gaming and hanging out with friends online, I think it might be a not bad option to go with.

Skullcandy’s new gaming headset offering came out with a bang with the mid-tier Slyr Pro providing the best audio and sound capabilities that is a must for serious gamers and audio lovers. Out of the box includes aux cords for console connections as well as a USB-C cord for PC and mobile connections. Note that this product is not bluetooth enabled (reserved for the Plyr headset) but everything else that the Plyr can is included in Slyr Pro.
With the Skullcandy PC software, you can further get your gaming and comms tech to the next level. Different modes are enabled in your headset including podcast mode where you can switch with one button the setting you need whether you are on active gaming mode or in presentation with your Twitch account.

Versatile all around headphones & customization

Good all around the ear headphones. I connect to mobile devices, tablets, laptops, desktops (iOS/Windows) using USB-A and C.
With the foam earphones and soft top head padding, ears didn’t feel hot or fatigued after prolonged use. The included cable accessories are helpful for various device connections. For comparison I have a wired Sennheiser and bluetooth ANC Bose 35’s for comparision, which in all fairness are much more expensive counterparts. Removable mic extension both attached and detached are clear, decent background noise isolation (better with mic extension connected) but isn’t flexible to hold shape, just straight. The battery feature is just to enable the EQ settings on the headphones with various configurations (FPS, RPG, music, custom, default) and onboard volume control (L side). No issues with battery life as I’m consistently connected to USB-C and not 2.5mm where it cannot charge. The headphone swivel is nice, DJ-like experience if needed. The exposed wires that connect the L&R sides at the swivel/headset extension point never snagged on anything. It seems like a cool feature to have it exposed but I would want all the cabling to be integrated or hidden within the frame. Perhaps this is cost savings as the headphone up/down adjust would add to the complexity of the design. Although the headphone is geared to gaming; wired gameplay is needed for low latency, etc., nowadays we’re so used to bluetooth everything. This sorta limits the versatility not necessarily while engaged in the activity, but getting up and walking around; stretching, snacks, bathroom breaks, is limited by the cord length where you may want to be always in the know of the activity. Bluetooth also adds to the cost as well. As far as noise isolation, it did a good job given that around the ear by nature typically cancels out some outside noise, you hear a little bit coming in. No active noise cancellation however. You can use it as regular headphones in ‘off’ position but won’t get the EQ settings, while cool to have I didn’t find a scenario where it just wowed me that it needed to be on to get the full experience.

Good cable length to connect to desktops that may be far away, squared off cable edges that differentiates them from other cables, but is sometimes annoying when those edges snags or drags along surfaces i.e.-shirt. It had a rubbery texture, slightly inflexible to straighten out. Cable ends could potentially break easily as there is no ‘spring’ to keep the wire straight and not bent. There is a little distortion from the 3.5mm jack with the headphones on, low white noise feedback, not noticeable when there is sound on.

Conclusion:
For the price and the accessories provided the wired headphones make a good all-around set that is versitle enough for all types of activities. Not completely sold on the EQ benefits, wheel volume adjust is cool to have, already have a keyboard toggle, not usable with 3.5mm connections. I would prefer to either have longer USB cables or opt for bluetooth version as I prefer a cleaner cordless look that offer that flexibility. Also cool to have the detachable mic extension.

Very Pleased with this Headset!

Overall I was very pleased with this headset. The audio quality was great and the ear cups were super comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Set up was very simple and easy to follow. I really like the color scheme of the headset as well, very modern and playful.
I wil say, I have used less expensive headsets in the past that offer a similar gaming experience. For this price point, I was hoping it would be a wireless headset. Other than this, I am very satisfied with this headset and the quality of the brand in general. I'll continue using this product for sure!! (🌟4/5)

Let the gaming begin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]  I’m a big gamer and I really enjoyed trying out this Skullcandy SLYR pro gaming headset. The look of them are really cool, I love the bright colors. The sound of music through them sounds fantastic. Unfortunately they fall short with the microphone. I found it very glitchy and hard for others to hear and understand me. A better microphone overall would’ve made these great. If you’re a big music lover and like to hear background sound on the game these are good, if you’re talking in a group or on discord not so much.

Awesome Headset

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to receive this headset as mine had recently started to mess up. I was impressed by the packaging and the colors of this headset. It is super comfortable very light and the sound is amazing. Everyone I play with says the microphone is very clear. I can wear these for hours with no fatigue. The colors on it are amazing. They stand out along with all the great features its offers. When I play call of duty I can actually hear around me in buildings not like my old headset. It will also work with your cell phone. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great headers that won’t break the bank.
