So far, so good!

Just installed and loving it so far. This unit with the pump, by far, pulls more water out than any other dehumidifier I have owned. Love the wi fi feature as I am away alot. Only concern I have is the pump only turns on when bucket is full. It then pumps until the bucket float indicates the bucket is no longer full, yet, there is still alot of water in the bucket that is just sitting there. Wished the unit bypassed the bucket right to the pump out, or, at least, pumped the bucket dry. Standing water is just adding humidity back to the area and possibly mold issues. Am I doing something wrong? Would have given 5 stars if this issue can be fixed.

These Homelabs work great for 21 to 25 months then they run but will NOT remove moisture anymore. Then replace again. This is the fourth time in 9 years. If you buy one get it somewhere that you can buy a warranty!!!! It will fail! All these other positve reviews are new purchase, go back and ask them how its going 3 years later.

The unit will not drain from a hose. The manual does not address this- the Chat on line does not work and the phone number to call for help is no longer supported! How much worse can this be?

2 fails inside of 2 years

First one worked 8 months before it dumped its charge of r410 into my basement from a coil leak. Second one worked 6 months then found it overheated and running with a frapped out display. Unplugged for a day. Plugged back in and compressor runs but its out of r410 now too. Thats more refrigerant my family got to breathe in while we slept. Think i learned my lesson now

Failed Dehumidifier

Bought the unit in September, used it for one season it worked fine. Next season never collected water. Warranty had lapsed, since I used for just one season….I thought they would do right for me and reputation. I was offered a 20% coupon off at regular price. Reading other reviews …it’s shocking to read similar stories. Why Homelabs should I invest in another one?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

8 Year Long Term User Report

We bought two of these units in the spring of 2018. We run both about 12 hours/day during the humid spring and summer months in a 1,400 sq ft renovated brick row house in a major east coast city. Our place is right on the harbor.
After eight years one unit finally failed this month, July 2025; the other unit is still working.
We run both units out of outlets that have local surge protectors, and there’s a commercial level whole house Siemens surge unit on the main electric panel.
The only thing we’ve ever done to maintain these dehumidifiers has been to clean the air filters and occasionally to clean the collection tank.
We did pull the plastic cover off the unit that failed just to see if we found anything obvious that could be repaired. Other than some mold on the evaporator, the unit was completely clean inside. In looking at the internals, the material and build quality seems excellent—copper piping, good brazing, heavy duty components, etc. Better than we expected for an electric device that everyone says is designed for a useful life of one-two years. 😊
The bottom line is that both of these units seem to have outlived the Home Labs dehumidifiers from the majority of other reviewers by 6-7 years.
So why have our units lasted for eight years plus when the norm is apparently one or two years? I have no idea, but given that every home electric device now has at least one microprocessor, including dehumidifiers, and given how sensitive microprocessors are to power supply fluctuations, I’m wondering if our whole house surge protector and/or the local outlet surge protectors may have been a major factor.
All in all, we’ve been pleased with Home Labs hardware and level of support. The only time we’ve had reason to reach out was recently when we asked if Home Labs had any info on how best to remove the machine’s outer shell (they don’t). But they were easy to reach and answered our questions in a professional way.
Just wanted to share this since most of the feedback on home dehumidifiers from Home Labs and for that matter any other dehumidifier brand is so much more negative than our experience has been.

It dehumidifies, I guess?

I have been using it for about 3 days now. I bought this unit on a recommendation from a friend and to combat a sudden humidity issue I am having in my apartment (I suspect from my wall AC unit while my landlord maintains there is nothing wrong).
I have a 950 sqft apartment, and I have my bedroom and bathroom closed while this unit has been running, so the 1800 sqft unit is rated for a space at least twice what I'm trying to dehumidify.
First, hindsight, I would have gone with a bigger tank. This is the first dehumidifier I've used and I am emptying this thing 3 - 4 times a day. 8 pints is not big enough. So I guess it's doing its job? I'm using this in an apartment, so I don't have the ability to continuously drain.
No matter how long I wait after the unit is off, pulling out the tank jostles something loose in the upper compartment, and water from the upper compartment spills all over my floor. It doesn't leak otherwise, but having to clean up a water spill every time I empty the tank is a hassle. If using the tank, probably make sure it's a hard floor.
I have a separate humidity gage outside of the dehumidifier and the dehumidifier's reading is always 4-5% higher than my other gage. Not sure which sensor is wrong. If the humidifier's sensor is wrong, might by why I can't get the humidity very low.
Whatever humidity issue is going on in my apartment, this unit cannot keep up. Based on the in unit humidity sensor, this unit has been keeping the humidity between 58-62%, despite being set to 35% humidity and being on Turbo since I got it. I've only ever seen it get down to 54% once, and that was when my AC was off for about an hour.
Just based on my experience, I don't know how this unit would keep someone's basement dry if it can barely keep my apartment below 60%.

Dead after 2 years and 3 months

Had my 4500 sq ft dehumidifier with 50 pint reservoir and pump unit for a little over 2 years and it DIED. Called HomeLabs and the first person said that they would replace it but I needed to test it first by removing the electrical plug, clean the filter and tank, then running the dehumidifier. Did not get a drop of water. Called the next day and they offered a 40% discount if I bought the unit from them on their website. I'm debating whether to buy another or a different brand with a better rating. Giving it 2 Stars because 1) it ran good while I had it, and 2) the offer of 40% off a new unit.
