it keeps jamming

I bought this juicer 2 weeks ago and it has jammed a couple of times. It makes a horrible noise sometimes and now it just turned off completely and it wont turn back on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A Little Juicer That Could

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own and have previously reviewed the Juiceman JM250 Compact Juicer. In essence, these two juicers are the same design, but the Black+Decker JE24000BD doesn’t have the bells and whistles of the JM250 and is priced slightly lower accordingly. Most of the points made in my previous review hold true for this model. Same compact style, countertop footprint, efficient 400W motor, basic design, dishwasher safe parts, etc. It is as easy to clean, but as anyone with a juicer knows, cleaning takes longer than the actual juicing. The pulping mesh is the hardest component to get clean (use and old toothbrush), and sometimes it can be a little difficult to remove from the unit. As far as juicing goes, the 400W motor does the job, but it is a good idea to slice more fibrous produce thinner to not overly tax it.
Notable differences between the two juicers are:
1) This model is black. The Juiceman version is white.
2) It doesn’t come with a 16oz. juice cup.
3) The spout isn’t a “non-drip” style.
4) The B+D has a single speed, on or off, while the Juiceman has low and high settings.
5) The Juiceman features a dual food pusher while the B+D has only one. Not a big difference IMHO.
6) The Juiceman claims it has a 48oz. pulp container while the B+D claims 28oz. They are the same size so I’m not sure which is more accurate. Both allow for making at least 32oz. of actual juice before needing to be cleaned out.

So what’s the bottom line? Both models perform about the same. If you want a few extras in a basic model juicer, you may want to get the JM250, but I think for most folks the JE2400BD will fit the bill. This is a basic model juicer that is affordable and should accommodate the needs of most casual juicers. For the more advanced juicers, a more expensive model with a more powerful motor is likely your best bet. This would make a nice gift for someone into health and wellness.
