Purchased this toaster about 6 months ago. I was seeking a toaster that provided a consistent, even toasting. This toaster does not provide that. The darkness setting does not function.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If your toaster is not toasting evenly, you may check these following information regarding your toaster:
-Make sure that the crumb tray is in place. This will affect toasting performance. -Make sure the crumb tray is clean. -Make sure when toasting two slices at a time, the slices should be of equal size and freshness to ensure even toasting. -Make sure the bagel setting has not been selected. If it has been selected, then only the inner elements will heat up.

Worst Toaster Ever

This toaster is absolutely inconsistent in every way. The same heat/button setting with the same loaf of bread will yield a broad range of toasting from virtually un toasted to burnt. Sometimes only the top gets toasted, sometimes the entire surface gets toasted all with the same setting and the same size slices. It's as if the temperature knob has no effect and the temperature/timing changes randomly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

To remedy this issue, check if there is no physical damage to its cord, and if there's none, try unplugging the unit and letting it rest for 3-5 minutes. Plug the unit into a different wall outlet and see if it will work. Do not use it with any extension cords, power strips, power converters or inverters as it may affect the unit's performance.
*Unplug the unit and plug it back in again after 60 seconds.
If the basic troubleshooting did not work, please contact us directly regarding the warranty or if you would like to obtain warranty service so we can determine the best resolution. Take note that our products have a 1 year limited warranty and we would love to get this taken care of as soon as possible. We hope this helps. Have a good day!

If the heating elements are not working, it might be because the toaster is not getting enough power from the wall outlet where it is currently plugged in or the wall outlet itself is a non-working outlet. To remedy this issue, check if there is no physical damage on its cord and if there's none, try unplugging the unit and let it rest for 3-5 minutes. Plug the unit into a different wall outlet and see if it will work. Do not use it with any extension cords, power strips, and power converters or inverters as it may affect the unit's performance.

very pleased except for manual's lack of clarity

I am happy with this toaster, except the instructions don't explain how to set the time for toasting. My daughter wanted maximum, and somehow I figured out how to set it at "6". But I can't figure out how I did that, and I want to set it at "4". The manual is unhelpful.

Great for Bagels!

I wanted a new toaster w extra wide slots for bagels. 1st bagel was toasted a little too much. 2nd bagel I used the bagel button - didn't notice at first. *Better! 3rd bagel turned down darkness a notch - *PERFECT! Just what I wanted and a great price!!

Very Disappointed

We purchased this toaster about a year ago. We only use it about once or twice a week. The toast lift lever will no longer stay down, so we physically need to hold it down in order to toast bread? We have unplugged it and plugged it back in to no avail. It is now headed for the recycle bin. Our last toaster made by another company lasted for almost 25 years. What gives? This will be our last Oster toaster!!!!

In some cases, this is caused by a build-up of crumbs in the bottom of the toaster. You may try to unplug the unit. Let it rest for a few minutes and turn it upside down to see if some bread crumbs will come out. Then, try using the toaster again. Also, the toaster must be plugged into a direct wall outlet and have power running to it. Otherwise, the lever will not stay down.
