The Hauslane 30” PS38 range hood exceeded my expectations. Its sleek design seamlessly complements my kitchen, and the powerful ventilation effectively eliminates cooking odors. The automated cleaning feature and customer support sold me though. A weekly cleaning is all it needs to save me from pulling out the chemical sprays and using elbow grease in an awkward position. Easy installation and user-friendly controls make it a standout choice for anyone seeking both style and functionality in a range hood. Highly recommended!
Just got it installed, everything is very smooth so far, a lot more quiet than my original microwave/hood combined for 2.5 time the suction strength. It is alot easier to install if you have 2 other helpers to hold it in place while you screw it in. Here is the test video with full steam on front burner with highest setting, nothing is escaping, level 5 performed very similar too.
I bought this based on reviews elsewhere that all said Hauslane was one of the best brands for range hoods. And the ventilation truly is amazing -- it really does a great job of even reaching the front burners. It has 2 fans, unlike the cheaper hood that have 2 grilles but a single fan. So if all you care about is ventilation, definitely buy this.
The steam cleaning feature is interesting. It has what looks like a pump and a small heating unit (similar to a one-cup coffee maker), but it seems more like a warm water clean than a steam clean. Obviously it's brand new so it's not greasy yet -- maybe it'll perform better in the future. It does mean you need somewhere to store the water tank, however.
However, there are some really disappointing design choices for something of this price, and I have no idea what Hauslane's design team was thinking:
1) There's a clock. Why? Who, in human history, has been in a kitchen with a microwave and a conventional oven and said "You know what this kitchen needs? A third clock that I have to change twice a year for daylight savings and reset after power failures." There is literally no reason for this to have a clock display, even if it needs to display a timer for the steam cleaning cycle (and honestly, it doesn't even need to do that. It's a 3 minute cycle). And the clock dots blink like it's 1980-something VCR. No modern 7-segment display clocks blink. If other people like clocks, great. But let me disable it, even if it's flipping a DIP switch on the board.
2) It chimes loudly when you turn it on and off. Again, why? And why can't this be disabled with a setting or even a physical switch? My washing machine also beeps at the end of a cycle, but it can be disabled.
3) The lights are sharply angled towards the back, such that the front burners are almost in shadow. And they only have one brightness setting. The hood this is replacing (a Faber Levante which was half the price) has that feature. Even the cheapest contractor-grade hoods these days have "bright" and "dim" settings for lights.
We bought this range hood because of the new self-cleaning technology that it offers. I couldn't be happier. It is such a sleek and compact model, yet it offers such powerful suction and cleans itself. I couldn't ask for anything better to keep my kitchen clean and carcinogen free.
I bought the self cleaning hood with perimeter suction about a year ago. Best hood vent I've had. Hood vent cleaning is a breeze with this one. It works great. The steam cleans the fan to keep it free of grease and clean up is easy. I clean it up with non harmful grease remover. The suction is great also. I am moving soon and will be putting one in the new house.
The hood arrived in perfect condition, packed well and on time. The instructions are written well and all in all the hood is easy to install. More than one person is required unless you have the fancy jacks to lift the hood into its final destination. I was concerned about the 6 inch vent on the unit since my house has 4 inch duct that is in the walls and I'm not able to swap them out unless I'm willing to break through some of those walls. So I bought a 6 inch to 4 inch reducer and it works great. the hood is beautiful and VERY functional. It moves a serious amount of air and pulls all smoke, steam and smells out from over the oven. I highly recommend it!
I bought the PS38 for one months be used I love is a lot I do a lot the cooking and fry when turn the suckers on without smelling anything highly recommended
