Product doesn't fulfill the specification

My laptop is a DV2842, so if it is DV2000 series, this battery will work on it, correct? No, wrong! This battery is not recognized in all DV2000 series. Some of them, like mine, needs another battery! Be aware!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

As a college student, I am constantly taking my to school, work, and then relaxing on the couch to surf the web at home (after homework, of course :) )
In my HP Pavilion dv6449us, I run Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, and I can count on getting 2 hours on a normal day.
I also dual-boot Linux occasionally, and when running Ubuntu 64-bit, I can get up to 3 hours on a single charge.
More time would be great, but I haven't found the motivation to buy a larger battery. I have had this battery for almost 10 months, and it still holds the same charge as it did out of the box.
It charges completely in about an 1.5 hours, and works great for me.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It would have been nice if somewhere in the info received with my laptop, it had said not to have the battery in while you are using the laptop plugged into electricity. It also would be helpful if you provided a cover for the battery compartment when no battery is installed and a cover for the battery when it is not installed. I now need to replace my battery since it only holds a charge for 1/2 hr. The lack of info is now costing me money.

battery is good for about 8 months... i've had a dv6000 for less then a year and the battery last a little over an hour.. the first months it worked great, but now i have to waste another $130 for a new battery... even though i am very happy with my computer, i love my HP... its a great pc, never fails... but i will not be buying another simply because the battery life is terrible

I bought my laptop a little over a year ago.
Like many before me I had no problem with the battery until it became "fair" and started looking for a new one at HP.
I was initially annoyed that the battery hasn't been in "good" condition longer. I'm fairly experienced with computers and this is my second laptop. It appears I need to assume responsibility though for not unplugging it regularly.
I agree with many others that information regarding care of the battery (leaving it in the computer at all times when plugged in) would have been extremely helpful, and less costly.
I wouldn't recommend this particular battery after reading the reviews of the 12 cell (VE12) on this site, which appears to be the better option. Specifically raising the laptop a little higher to keep it cooler, extending the time I'm able to use it when just using the battery, allowing additional space in the case AND the minimal difference in cost between the two.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We've had our laptop, a Pavilion dv6000, for about 4 years. For the most part we've used it while plugged into AC power, so after a couple of years the battery would hold a charge of only a few minutes. We just got a replacement battery a couple of weeks ago and now use the laptop on battery power only. When we first got the replacment battery, it took about three hours to fully charge it. The battery is lasting about 2 hours while on the internet and only takes a couple of hours to recharge. The only time we use AC power now is to charge the battery.
If the battery you bought lasted only five minutes, it may be because you needed to charge it first (for several hours) before using it as the sole power source.

Replacement Battery for HP Laptop dv6000 Series

This product fulfills everything that the description said it would. Delivery time was reasonable, the product is correct for my dv6000 laptop, and the product works correctly. As long as one follows the chart that this site provides for the different compatabilities between batteries and laptops, they should have no problem finding the correct battery and being satisfied with the product they order.
I would recommend this to a friend!
