It cools the room but when the temperature is reached the AC shuts off. The fan doesn't stay on. So it goes from very quiet to very loud everytime it starts. Do not buy unless you want to get waken up all night by your AC.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It smells and there's dark green stuff coming out

It smelled when I got it, I thought it would go away. It didn't. I would just change the mode when that happened but it got worse. It recently started spitting out gunky dirty water droplets. I used to clean the filters, drain the water and the entire outer body frequently and the place where my outlet is was also clean so make of that what you will. also, the temperature control thing doesn't work. It wouldn't turn on even when the temperature in the room is 5 degrees higher.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
