This product is great if you want to upload your videos to the internet. If you would like to make a DVD, you will have to convert the MP4 files to a compatable format with your PC program, and the converted files do not always show clearly. Samsung definately should have made their products DVD compatible.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Exceptional value for the money. For a simple, easy to use video camera, it's great. Screen display is very crisp, clear.
Like how easy it is to attach to pc, and/or a TV.

This is a well made, seemingly sturdy, attractive movie camera. It takes flawless amateur grade videos that you can upload to the internet, if that is your intent for it. If you want to make a home movie using Windows Movie Maker or even the built-in editing feature, buy a different camera. The 140 page instruction book is written mostly for two other models of camcorder and is hopelessly illogical and unfreindly. If you are a geek/genius you can probably make this device work like a dream and this camcorder will be a good value. Most of us should buy devices that make clips in AVI format.

Big return for small investment

I originally bought this item Dec 10,09. I returned it for another, (I liked it)on the 12th. I couldn"t get the digital zoom to work. I found out w/the new one it didn't work w/antishake on. Didn't see that in the directions. It is a VERY GOOD camera for the money. I take it w/me quite often. We have several grandkids and 2 greats. I do alot of birthdays, vacations etc. Doesn't scan too well, does blur some. Does well on relatively steady shots. Nice adjustments for different lighting. I copy to DVDs. Haven't tried to download to computer as of yet. I have already recommended it to a friend. He's getting one. a.

Good points: Easy to use, nice zoom, easily accessible features, video quality looks good on tv, nice carrying case included.
Not so good: If you zoom at all the battery drains QUICKLY, limiting tremendously the length of video that can be taken. You will need a spare battery or two(as the manual states). You definitely need to keep plugged in if using at home. The biggest issue, it only records in .MP4 format. You will HAVE to use a specialized program if you want to put your movies on DVD, if not computer literate, this can be a nightmare, it takes long. Also note that once converted to DVD, especially on shareware programs, the quality suffers terribly. Samsung should have thought a lot more of how the consumer can actually watch the videos recorded.
Bottom line: This camcorder has its issues, but if you are able to compromise on the need for an extra battery, and are computer savvy and know how to convert files to dvd, this is a good purchase considering the price. If price is not an issue, go for something higher end, it will save you headaches.

I love the small size, and the picture in provides is pretty good as well. The user manual does not work on my computer or DVD player so I had to simply play around with it and use the quick start guide to learn what I could about using the camera. I really wanted to download my videos and convert them to DVD to save in my library of my kid's other home videos. I got my video off the card and on my computer, but I can't get anything to play back unless I play it directly from the camera itself. I will be taking it back and will locate another camera that I can burn the video to DVD from my computer. Why do I want to post my kid's video on the internet or You Tube??

Good deal & easy to use

I love the size. It is small enough that it is easy to take along with no trouble. It is light weight and easy to hold steady. It is easy to use and the images are clear. i use it to record my wife when she runs our dog at agility contests so she can review her performances. The zoom allows me to keep her and the dog filling the frame even though they cover a lot of ground during a run. It is common for people to ask me about the camera, and they are impressed when I show it to them.
